There were about 80 riders in the support race with a few 3rd cat vets, the neutralised zone had its first victim with a puncture after the first corner to go onto the route but once the race got underway the pace was very fast at over 30mph for first few mile with the sound of shouts for potholes or oncoming cars but the odd puncture occurred. The whole field stayed together until the first climb then once the 2nd climb was been taken the field split in half with the descent on the Barr screws spreading the remainder of the field. Heading to the bottom of the Nic O the Balloch I was in good shape, I managed to get in the first 15 going up the climb and seen two people ahead of the group so I decided to break and try to catch those ahead of me, managed to pass one with the second only fractionally ahead. Getting over the top I seen that some of the group was getting close so eased up to try and from a chase group. Worked well with the group of 4 others going down from the summit on some pretty poor surface then made a sprint for line only to get beat for second place.
Weather was the best it could have been with warm and dry conditions but slight headwind finish.

COMMUNICATION FROM SCOTTISH CYCLING
the link is mostly about the a race

In the supporting B race it was Keith Laird of Glasgow Couriers who put in another dominant performance following a tough battle up the Nic O Balloch against Scott Newman and Trevor Wilson. Despite the cross winds blasting Tailaw Summit, Laird was able to break clear and maintain nearly a minutes advantage.
